Business Applications: Security and Privacy in Microsoft Office Products

Microsoft Translator values your security and privacy when using the Translator features in Microsoft Office. Therefore, all communication between the Microsoft Office apps and the Microsoft Translator service use a secure, SSL encryption to send and receive translations.

Most Microsoft Office products are set up as no-trace by default. With no-trace, no portion of the translation request to Microsoft Translator will be logged, the submitted text will not be used to improve the quality of the Microsoft Translator service, and there will not be any record of any portion of the subscriber’s data in the Microsoft datacenters.

The following Microsoft Office products are no-trace:

Excel

OneNote

Outlook

PowerPoint

PowerPoint Office App

Publisher

SharePoint

SharePoint Online

Word

Word Online

Word Office App

Visio

Yammer

The no-trace option for the Presentation Translator add-in for PowerPoint is available for text translation of slides, but is not available for speech translation.
