      Hello mukeshdewan,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Translator Text API. The Translator API is now available in the Azure portal and we only support REST (we do not support SOAP or AJAX).

The DataMarket platform retired earlier this year in April and the Translator API is provisioned through the Azure portal.

You can find the documentation to get started here at http://docs.microsofttranslator.com
Code examples are in GitHub at https://github.com/MIcrosoftTranslator

      Hope this helps.

      Thank you,
      your Microsoft Translator team

    • Actual system too complicated. Simplify, simplify and simplify again

From memoQ, in the Microsoft MT plugin settings, configure the "subscribe to Microsoft Translator" option so that one is automatically registered and can start working right away. We are translators, not computers nerds.

      • Support dictionaly only feature for DNN mode

The DNN output improve is so great. The more needed capabilty to use complex business domain is dictionally as customable space. We strongly want to Translator Hub for DNN mode. That's dramatically reduce our manual process for translation workflow.

          Hello 李國安,

We’re following up as you indicated interest in neural machine translation and customization. Microsoft Translator announced today the availability of a new customization feature for neural machine translation (NMT): Custom Translator (Preview).

Custom Translator (Preview) offers similar capabilities to what Translator Hub does for Statistical MT but exclusively for NMT systems.
The new version 3 of Microsoft Translator Text API is required to use Custom Translator.

The supported languages are limited to pairs where NMT languages exist and the list of NMT languages available today can be found on the Microsoft Translator Languages webpage at www.aka.ms/TranslatorLanguages.

The new unified Speech services (Preview), also announced today, offers neural network based customization for speech recognition, translation, and speech synthesis. Learn more at www.aka.ms/AcomSpeech.

Read more about this announcement in the Microsoft Translator blog at www.aka.ms/TranslatorCustomNMTBlog.

          Thank you for your interest.

        • I found that the translator hub is still using SMT. So I wonder if there is any plan to move it to NMT?

I post these questions as I found the translation quality is poorer when using the hub than only using the base microsoft translator. it now confuses me and I do not know how to choose between the 2 systems. So I think if they can combine together, that would be great

            • Neural MT: TranslateApiException on Simplified Chinese engine

              Hi,
we are evaluating the NMT engines and have found that English-> Chinese engine occasionally returns the "TranslateApiException: server temporarily unavailable " error.
The source for translation contain no suspicious content apart from some alphanumeric abbreviations. I suspect there might be some transliterization issue in the backround - the same sentence is translated well for European languages.
Couldyou please take a look? Thanks.

              Some source examples:

The PCM monitors reference voltage deviation from the power supply circuit of the APS1.
PCM monitors peak differential value of the oxygen sensor signal after the front HO2S fluctuation being provided .

Thanks for the report. We updated the translation models last week. Your examples now translate as:

                pcm 监测 APS1 电源电路的参考电压偏差。
                pcm 在提供前 HO2S 波动后, 监测氧气传感器信号的峰值差值。

                Using the following parameters:
                Console.WriteLine(“Translated: {0}”, translatorService.Translate(token, “The PCM monitors reference voltage deviation from the power supply circuit of the APS1.”, “en”, “zh-Hans”, “text/plain”, “generalnn”, string.Empty));

                • Sending large HTML document for translation

                  Hi,

I know the API has 10000 character limit when the HTML doc is sent. I am using node.js client to send a GET request to /v2/Http.svc/Translate endpoint and if it's large, I get request URL is too large.

My question is how are we supposed to translate large HTML documents? One way I can think of is to chunk the HTML document into pieces and send the chunk and stitch them together. As you can imagine, chunking HTML document because of its very nature is not an easy problem!

I feel like this should be a common problem and…

I want to integrate file translation and/or dictionary management in my existing application which already uses Translator API. Does the API have some REST endpoints for this? I couldn't find any in the official documentation. Thank you very much

                                Hello,

I am encountering issues with the Translator Hub's sentence alignment tool when uploading parallel documents. In particular, the tool seems to be quite sensitive to punctuation and spatial alignment for the text. For instance, if two independent clauses are written in one sentence and separated by a comma in the source-language version of the document, while they are separated by a semi-colon in the target-language version of the document, the sentence alignment tool registers the semi-colon as a sentence separator, giving a 1:2 sentence ratio for source:target language. While this separation makes grammatical sense, it makes the process of…

For the first issue: the semi-colon is treated as sentence breaker and this is by design. We canÕt change this since it will have a big impact on the system.

For the second issue: this issue is caused by the footnote got inserted between sentences. Ca n you remove footnote before uploading the file?

                                  Thank you

When uploading a dictionary for English to French I have the word "H™tel" in the French column. However after I have uploaded the dictionary document I review the upload and see the French is written as "Hotel" and does not include the circumflex over the O. Can this be corrected so that the dictionary entry will return the proper spelling? Perhaps this is just an issue with the display of the entry after uploading but I want to make sure before training+deploying.

                                    • Update the Terminology API SDK please. I don't see 200 languages

I don't see 200 languages in any of the documentation. How do I do this on Windows 10? https://www.microsoft.com/Language/en-US/Microsoft-Terminology-API.aspx

                                      • Send authorization token as a query parameter for web socket connection

In order for the speech translation to work you need to create a Web Socket connection to wss://dev.microsofttranslator.com/speech/translate and set an Authorization http header with the access token.

In a vanilla JavaScript WebSocket object you cannot set an Authorization header for the request. So would it be possible to add an Authorization query parameter to the URL and send the token that way? So something like:

                                        wss://dev.microsofttranslator.com/speech/translate?Authorization={accessToken}&from=en&to=sv&api-version=1.0

Or have I missed something blindingly obvious?

                                        • Using individual Azure Marketplace accounts versus a single common account

I am developing a simple Visual Studio text translation app for a video game in which players from various nationalities communicate through a common text channel. A copy of the app will be distributed to each player for use on their own PC. The app reads comments from the user's local log file as they are generated by the various participants, and then outputs the comments translated into the desired language using the REST API.

The simplest solution would be for me to create a single Azure Marketplace account and incorporate the credentials for that account into the API calls…

The recommended way is that you implement a proxy, which authenticates the user, applies the desired throttling, and executes the translation with the Translator service, handing the translation back to the client.
An alternative is that you perform the credentials to token exchange on your server, hand the token to the client , and the client makes their own request to the Translator service.

Let us know if this helps,
