I wanted to use bing websearch for website. The search should include only the site which i am specifying. I am not finding the option to specify the site in cognitive search api. Please help me in including site also as part of search...1 vote
I'd like to be able to search news articles and confine the results to a given date range. I suppose it would be best if by date it referred to the date of the article itself, but if that's not possible, the date that Bing recorded the result would work. Currently you can only get a chunk of most recent results and sort them by date. I'd love to be able to search older articles from a given time period. I don't think any other search API has this feature. And the Bing web search only lets you specify a "freshness" value, which just limits the results to the last day, week, month, etc. With both there's no way to set a date range.

Add searching for specified site when using SimilarImages / SimilarProducts. It is already possible to specify the site but it is not taken into account when providing a image to search for similar products.
It could be a great thing to provide this in order to see what products a specific vendor has that match a specific image.1 vote
This is so that users can update their location manually if their location is identified incorrectly based on their I.P. address and the search results are displaying irrelevant local search results based on that incorrect location2 votes
For example a URL such as https://www.microsoft.com/bingapis/searchapi in the Search Results would be shortened to microsoft.com > bing apis > search2 votes
News Photos that are 16:9 will scale up better in the News Answer of the Web Search Results on the mobile screen. The current aspect ratio of the photos is taller than it is wide and it doesn't scale well when trying to make the photos take up more of the screen's width.1 vote
I am using bing cognitive search, but the pagination is not working properly; for example I am posting this to bing API:
but it is not returning 5 results; it returns 9 instead. Also the results are duplicated on page next pages.
If I change count to 9 and accordingly the offset, then it returns 17 results. Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong? How should I do a proper call and pagination when calling bing cognitive search?
Is there some documentation regarding this problem?3 votes
I'm using Bing web search API for getting articles about health in my Bot. How can I specify in the API which sites(urls) to search? Because sometimes it searches irrelevant sites, like wiki or wikipedia which I don't want to use. I've tried with site: parameter in API but it only gets the first site and ignores the rest urls. Here is the API which I use now: https://api.cognitive.microsoft.com/bing/v5.0/search?q=site:cdc.gov/ NOT site:wikipedia.org/" +url+ "&count=10&offset=0&mkt=en-us&safesearch=Moderate"3 votes

It would be useful to be able to search a query and only return those results in "Sports" or "Health" categories.1 vote
Check http://editor.swagger.io to see the existing errors in the swagger file.
And it would be nice to be able to see the Response objects in the swagger definition so that we can have the API fully documented and allow us to easily generate client code from it.1 vote
The freshness filter appears to filter out many pages that should be included. For example, see this search:
This can of course be tested in the console: https://dev.cognitive.microsoft.com/docs/services/56b43eeccf5ff8098cef3807/operations/56b4447dcf5ff8098cef380d/console
There are no results. However, if you remove the freshness=week portion, there are many results even just on the first page that are newer than one week old.
The extent of the missing results makes the freshness filter almost useless unfortunately.1 vote
The search/news API sometimes goes down, it would be helpful if there was an accurate reporting page on the API's status. Or at least a way for users to report that it is down.
It is currently down right now (2/13/17 10:08pm) and has been having issues for the last couple of hours.1 vote
The &responseFilter= value is missing from the docs into the new api.1 vote
When I search on Bing.com, the abstract or summary of the webpage displayed on Bing.com does not match the snippet returned by the API. They should match.1 vote
Using intitle: before a keyword appears to do _something_, but doesn't actually restrict results to those with that keyword in the title. This appears to be a problem with bing search itself, not just the api. For instance, see
Most results include 4l60e in the title, but not all do.1 vote
Some of the API (i don't know if there are all of them) that using the free version after 3 months it expires and the key's cannot be regenerated, this is unfair, please leave the free packet free for ever but just make 100 calls per day the maximum reach, we deserve some free sources it's unfair.1 vote
1) Search using "100,000.51 euros to dollars" in Bing
2) Note that the from value is correctly shown as 100000.51
3) Do the same search using the Web Search API
4) Examine the JSON object returned from this query and look at the "currency" member which contains the values for the currency card
Expect: "fromValue": 100000.51
Actual: "fromValue": 100000.51 vote
See http://stackoverflow.com/questions/26789168/httputility-parsequerystring-always-encodes-special-characters-to-unicode . Basically the sample code for this service tells you to use HttpUtility.ParseQueryString in C#. If you use this and do a query like "£ 500 to euros", the £ sign will be encoded in a way that the Bing Web Search API doesn't understand due to the difference between UrlEncode and UrlEncodeUnicode, thus this sample code is not correct.1 vote
