  1. Show Deep Links for related topics in popular forums

For example when there are multiple Yahoo Answers related to the keyword searched they should display as expanded deep links within the same search results entry, as well as other popular forums like Reddit

    • Add Local Business Results to the Web Search!

We desperately need a Places or Phonebook Results in the Web Search so that mobile users that search for local businesses can find business information (web address, list of locations, map of locations, call button, hours of operation, directions) through the Web API.

      • The API should display the visitor's city, state, country based on their IP address

This is so that users can update their location manually if their location is identified incorrectly based on their I.P. address and the search results are displaying irrelevant local search results based on that incorrect location

        • Use arrows to shorten Web Results URLs

For example a URL such as https://www.microsoft.com/bingapis/searchapi in the Search Results would be shortened to microsoft.com > bing apis > search

          • Include 16:9 aspect ratio photos for the News Stories in the Web Search API

News Photos that are 16:9 will scale up better in the News Answer of the Web Search Results on the mobile screen. The current aspect ratio of the photos is taller than it is wide and it doesn't scale well when trying to make the photos take up more of the screen's width.

            • Add a Database of Searches Performed On Our Site

When site visitors perform a web search on our website using the Web Search API it would be nice if the API could track and maintain a database of searched terms done through our site. This way we could see what the most popular terms searched by our site's visitors are each day and how many visitors searched for that same keyword.

              • Bing web search API to search only specific sites

I'm using Bing web search API for getting articles about health in my Bot. How can I specify in the API which sites(urls) to search? Because sometimes it searches irrelevant sites, like wiki or wikipedia which I don't want to use. I've tried with site: parameter in API but it only gets the first site and ignores the rest urls. Here is the API which I use now: https://api.cognitive.microsoft.com/bing/v5.0/search?q=site:cdc.gov/ NOT site:wikipedia.org/" +url+ "&count=10&offset=0&mkt=en-us&safesearch=Moderate"

                • Include Response objects and remove the errors from Swagger file.

Check http://editor.swagger.io to see the existing errors in the swagger file.

And it would be nice to be able to see the Response objects in the swagger definition so that we can have the API fully documented and allow us to easily generate client code from it.

                  • Apparent bug in freshness filter

The freshness filter appears to filter out many pages that should be included. For example, see this search:
                    https://api.cognitive.microsoft.com/bing/v5.0/search?q=iphone site:allentown.craigslist.org&count=10&offset=0&mkt=en-us&safesearch=Moderate&freshness=week

This can of course be tested in the console: https://dev.cognitive.microsoft.com/docs/services/56b43eeccf5ff8098cef3807/operations/56b4447dcf5ff8098cef380d/console

There are no results. However, if you remove the freshness=week portion, there are many results even just on the first page that are newer than one week old.

The extent of the missing results makes the freshness filter almost useless unfortunately.

                    • Better reporting/communication when API is down

The search/news API sometimes goes down, it would be helpful if there was an accurate reporting page on the API's status. Or at least a way for users to report that it is down.

It is currently down right now (2/13/17 10:08pm) and has been having issues for the last couple of hours.

                        • Web Search snippet should match what is displayed when searching directly on Bing.com

When I search on Bing.com, the abstract or summary of the webpage displayed on Bing.com does not match the snippet returned by the API. They should match.

                          • Support something like intitle: keyword

Using intitle: before a keyword appears to do _something_, but doesn't actually restrict results to those with that keyword in the title. This appears to be a problem with bing search itself, not just the api. For instance, see

                            http://www.bing.com/search?q=Camaro+intitle%3A4l60e

Most results include 4l60e in the title, but not all do.

                            • More results per query

It looks like the web results api currently returns 50 results per page max. It would be nice to increase that to at least 100, if not more (or at least to count multiple page requests with the same query as a single transaction).

Speaking of which, when will pricing be announced?

                              • Missing data for some Bing Web Search cards

                                Steps:
                                1) Search using "100,000.51 euros to dollars" in Bing
                                2) Note that the from value is correctly shown as 100000.51
                                3) Do the same search using the Web Search API
                                4) Examine the JSON object returned from this query and look at the "currency" member which contains the values for the currency card
                                Expect: "fromValue": 100000.51
                                Actual: "fromValue": 100000.5

                                • Spell Check seems to fail if certain characters are in the text.

I was wondering why my text was reported as having no errors, when I was deliberately putting errors in.

After an hour of trial and error, it turns out that sometimes, the API doesn't like having a period and then a line-feed character in the url-encoded text. LF seems to be encoded as %0A.

Here are the examples that had me isolate the issue:
                                  Text=teh%0Atxet
Reports 2 errors (teh and txet)

                                  Text=teh.%0Atxet
                                  Reports 0 errors.

I don't really need the %0A in my strings so I can just strip them out. Maybe other URLENCODING libraries handle the LF character differently.

                                  • Make Bing Search free to be able to use after 3 months

Some of the API (i don't know if there are all of them) that using the free version after 3 months it expires and the key's cannot be regenerated, this is unfair, please leave the free packet free for ever but just make 100 calls per day the maximum reach, we deserve some free sources it's unfair.

                                    • Correct sample code for APIs

See http://stackoverflow.com/questions/26789168/httputility-parsequerystring-always-encodes-special-characters-to-unicode . Basically the sample code for this service tells you to use HttpUtility.ParseQueryString in C#. If you use this and do a query like "£ 500 to euros", the £ sign will be encoded in a way that the Bing Web Search API doesn't understand due to the difference between UrlEncode and UrlEncodeUnicode, thus this sample code is not correct.

                                      • Related sites search

I'm looking for an alternative to Google's "related:..." search, which returns a list of related sites for any given url (not just top level domains). For example: https://www.google.com/#q=related:http:%2F%2Fagiliq.com%2Fblog%2F2013%2F08%2Fwriting-thread-safe-django-code%2F

I've migrated to Bing for all other web search needs, but this is the one search feature that Google provides which I haven't been able to find elsewhere.

                                        • Image Search API. Add searching for specified file type support

Add filetype (ex. .jpg, .png, .tiff) parameter to Image Search API
